A question : Why is finding the love of your life, or at least someone to spend the rest of your life with such a life goal for so many people ?

I mean, I know we are conditionned to see this as a life goal, but I, for one, ain't aiming at that.
All I want for my future is to find a job I will be happy to do, put myself together, have friends as good as those I have now, and turn this into my tiny little piece of happiness. This is what I need.

Of course the thought of dying alone is scary, but I don't wanna get married and I'm not sure I ever want kids - and I don't think never finding someone with whom you settle down and just live with till you die, I don't think that is a failure.

Why is it so important ?
