Working here is funny, in a way.
The foundation's headquarters are sponsored by Club Tissus - and sewing classes are given in a room close by. Those women are all French, and they know the people here are English. That's why I'm often mistaken for an English girl : not because I'm actually speaking English, but only because I'm here. Yesterday, I was standing next to the microwave while it was warming up my lunch. Now, the washroom is right next to the microwave (it's not a concept, it's all put-it-where-it-fits logic) and this lady appeared, walking towards the washroom. She stopped and took a moment to realize that I was just waiting for the microwave, not the washroom. I looked up to her because I was wondering why she was staring at me, and, pointing the washroom, she asked "Is it okay ?" I said "oui", in French, you know, so she would understand that I spoke French - but she didn't care, she thanked me (what for ?) in English and locked herself in the washroom.
Lesson #1 : Sewing ladies don't listen to you
And I like that, because almost everybody here speaks French as well, and for those people to go out of their way to talk to them in English, it's some kind of extra sign of respect. (then again, maybe they don't know they speak French, as I said, they don't listen) So well, that respect shouldn't apply to me, but I do get it anyway.
When your credit card company calls you a liar and tells you to go to hell, you learn to appreciate other people's respect. Then again, you should respect me if you're making money with me.
Of course, Visa Desjardins won't be making money with me in a few weeks, but still.
I'm thinking about sending them a letter explaining how appalled and disgusted I am with their customer service. It wouldn't change a thing, but it sure would make me feel better. Plus, I might get them to apologize, who knows ? That's certainly not my goal, but I already got an apologee (sp ?) from the parking people, so it should Visa Desjardins' turn, now.
I'm also thinking about closing my account at Desjardins in a few years, when I've paid my student loan and used up all my checks.
I'm such a bitchy little thing.
