Last night after dance class, Maridi and I went out for a drink and we discussed the learning of new languages.
I explained to her that I could pinpoint exactly the moment at which my understanding of Spanish improved significantly when I went to Madrid.
Having learned my English in school, I never had such a moment with that language.
Maridi, however, began learning English while traveling with her parents as a kid, and she said it was the same for her: there was a moment when there was a BANG in her head, and she started understanding English without a problem.
So I wonder - does it really just work that way for everyone? Or do Maridi and I just have similar brain workings?
