I am profoundly disturbed by the fact that a fourty-something colleague just stood before me checking the calorie-count of a bar of chocolate while commenting that it was crucial information for her as she's only allowed 1,000 calories a day.

This is wrong on so many levels I just can't begin to put words on it.
