In case you have been living under a rock, Québec has started implementing measures to flatten the COVID-19 curve. Schools and daycare are closed for two weeks (and I am personally refusing the acknowledge the very concrete possibility that they will remain closed until the end of the schoolyear, which is what Alberta is doing, because I will freak out about that only when absolutely necessary) and teleworking is strongly encouraged when possible for all workers. I personally was able to come in to work yesterday, but by the end of the day telework was mandatory.
And it's all good. I mean, I get it. It's a very small sacrifice in the circumstances.
Nevertheless.
Teleworking with young kids, people. Teleworking with young kids when files are coming in at all hours of the day as a matter of emergency - because every measure being implemented is built upon a legislative or regulatory instrument - and availability is necessary basically around the clock.
No big deal. Sure. I don't know what the fuss is all about. Also, entirely unrelated, this morning I screwed up summer camp registration and registered Coco for an extra week. But no, my focus is as sharp as ever no matter if I'm working on my kitchen table or in an actual office.
(While we're touching on that topic, let's hear it for Raiontzukai who is litterally building a work desk for me as we speak.)
I was able to start working earlier than usual, which allowed me to be done early too, and to engage Operation tire-up-the-offspring. I had the boys run on the treadmill and do a couple of dances with the help of Youtube. And then I took then to the playground in the rain.
Only a week and a half - or a couple of months - to go. No big deal. Sure. I don't know what the fuss is all about.
