Funny. I stumbled upon an online quizz I did a few years back and it's titled Which member of the Endless are you?. I didn't know it then - I just wanted to do as many online quizzes as possible on that day - but I know now that this test is related to a Neil Gaiman's book (can't remember the title) that I intend to read one day... That writer happens to be Tori Amos' friend and they keep referring to each other throughout their respective work... My result indicated You are Desire! and it caught my eye purely because this exact line can be found in Tori Amos' Another Girl's Paradise. I checked on the website presenting the quizz and that's when I found out that the Desire from the quizz and the Desire from the song are the same Desire.

Funny coincidence.
Everybody's doing it...

I hate YOU for thinking you get to judge me without having any sense of what you're talking about and I hate you for letting it be right - thereby agreeing. I hate you for not caring to stand up to anybody for anybody or even for yourself.

I mentionned I would like to put pictures up in my cubicle? I'm probably not going to do it and leave the personalization part to my coffee mug, Winnie the Pooh water bottle, Scotties tissue box, hand cream, face moisturizer and jacket BUT there was, when I got here, a small picture on the wall. It's at a very weird place, which probably explains why it was left there: it's right OVER the computer, in a corner of the wall I can't see myself getting to unless I gained a few inches. And even then, I have no idea how I could get to that picture without having to twist my body around. Anyways. So you get the idea.

I never really stopped to look at the picture, and I had always thought it represented an elephant.
Now that I've taken a good look at it (while I waited for something, anything, to translate) I think it doesn't represent an elephant. I have no clue what it is though. So I have a very weird picture hung on a very weird part of my walls. I suspect it was intentionally put there to confuse interns.

I'm not sure I like having an unidentifiable image staring at me all day long.

Note to self: really must start to put work term report together.

On my personal Top 5 of the Things That Never Fail to Make Me Laugh whenever I think of them (avec la légendaire joke de la flèche de 10 choses que je déteste de toi): the beginning of the second volume of the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, when Arthur Dent has a long talk with the Nutri-Matic in order to get actual tea, the Nutri-Matic gets the idea and teams up with the Ship Computer for a while to figure it out, thereby removing all power from the ship... right when an ennemy ship starts firing at them.

Another disturbing thing, while I'm at it, is the fact that now that Rob has found a new job and has had to go back to working instead of bumming around on the job (or so I assume), I find myself increasingly... not having anything to do around here.

So of course I am NOT bumming around, as I haven't got access to a lot of online gimmicks that would facilitate my bumming around (such as private e-mail, instant messaging and the like) but still. Right now, for example, it is 2 o'clock, I leave in a little over 2 hours and I am not going to have anything to translate before tomorrow morning. At a minimum.

Wow. Freaky.

There are a lot of people working here and I truly don't expect to get to know everyone so I stick with my little group - so obviously, during the short amount of time I spend in the washroom washing my hands or something, I see a lot of people I don't know. It used to make me feel uneasy, but now I'm used to it and I just act as a bitch, put on a tight smile and walk my way.

And minutes ago that happened, I was washing my hands a few sinks away from this other lady whose face I didn't recognize, so I barely looked at her (better than the tight smile, avoiding all eye contact altogether solves the what-do-I-do dilemma) and walked back to my cubicle.

Well I barely have time to sit down that Lady from the Washroom walks in! She knows who I am and she says we've met and she wants to know how I'm enjoying my work term.
So we chatted a little and she was nice but I am very, very troubled. When the hell is it that I was introduced to her? Why does she get to remember and I don't?

I remember when I went to my very first party with the musical team (which was really just a way to get newbies like myself to know everyone) I warned everyone not to take offense if I didn't say hi to them if we crossed each other's way at school the following week, because I was very bad with faces.
That was a smart move.
Maybe I should start doing it when I start new jobs, too.

Thing that annoys the bitch out of me #9485 :

When someone calls at 10 o'clock at night and doesn't leave a message on the answering machine when you don't pick up. I've said it before, but when it's worth calling either early or late, it's worth leaving a message. If it's not worth leaving a message, then you shouldn't be calling at all.

Thing that annoys the bitch out of me #9486 :

When someone calls at 10 o'clock at night, doesn't leave a message on the answering machine when you don't pick up AND THEN calls again 10 minutes later, exclaiming, when you tell them what an uninteresting time of the day they've chosen : "Well I called 10 minutes ago and you weren't there, so you're certainly not sleeping!!!"

I think if I were to suggest to that kind of person that I tend not to pick up the phone when I'm in bed when it rings, their brains might litterally explode...

Taking notes at the moment regarding the pricing of some attractions Tweety and I want to visit in Britain and it's really funny to see that a lot of them offer a lower admission fee to the "unwaged"...

Does anybody feel like going back to work tomorrow?
